Aug 12, 2008 - A human is bound to get distracted from the desires of this world, so to stay on the straight path, one needs to pray atleast 5 times. In prayers, we read the Quran, which guides the people, and we glorify Allah, bow and fall down in prostration before Him. According to the bible also, Prophets used to prostrate: Genesis 17:3-"Abraham fell facedown..." Numbers 20:6-"Moses and Aaron...fell facedown" Mathew 26:39-"...he(Jesus)fell with his face to the ground and prayed..."

ameenebrahim Says:

Aug 12, 2008 - This is where you go wrong. Jesus (peace be upon him) does NOT answer prayers but God does. Calling someone God-Man is totally associating partners with God. If you want to pray, pray to Allah alone. Even Jesus(peace be upon him)prayed to him, even according to the bible - example Mathew 26:39. All the miracles Jesus (peace be upon him) or any other Prophets including Moses and Muhammad (peace be upon them) did, were by the will of God alone, to make the people believe in His signs and warnings.

ameenebrahim Says:

Aug 12, 2008 - Quran 4:171 - "O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: Nor say of Allah aught but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) an apostle of Allah, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in Allah and His apostles. Say not "Trinity" : desist: it will be better for you: for Allah is one Allah. Glory be to Him: (far exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth..."

ameenebrahim Says:

Aug 12, 2008 - Quran 4:156-158 "And because of their (Jews) disbelief and uttering against Mary a grave false charge That they said(in boast),"We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah.;- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no(certain)knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not:- Nay, Allah raised him up unto Himself; and Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise"

Aug 12, 2008 - ammene, Okay, lets not take things out of context. Did you read the whole surah, number 4. Muhammad is having a conversation with the Jews here. All he is saying is that though the Jews claimed that they killed Jesus, they did not. The world knew that the Romans killed Him. And the rest of these ayas validate the Greek scriptures, The Father did raise Jesus up to be at His right side as the Greek scriptures tell us. I have no conflict with this passage reading it in context.

nighthawk7878 Says:

Aug 12, 2008 - ameene, thanks for point this out. That's right Jesus is our model for prayer. He gave the greatest prayer ever as a model for prayer and we are to follow it. I do bow before my Father and worship Him. Prayer is a very meaningful part of my relationship with Him. Thanks for bringing this up.

nighthawk7878 Says:

Aug 12, 2008 - ameene, how do you know that Jesus does not answer prayers? You can't know that. Jesus performed all types of miracles while on the earth including raising the dead. Prayer is a mystery, see the next comment.

nighthawk7878 Says:

Aug 12, 2008 - Here it says that the Holy Spirit is involved in putting our prayers before Jesus and before the Father. The Godhead intervenes in our behalf as He sees fit. Romans 8: 26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will.

nighthawk7878 Says:

Aug 12, 2008 - ameene, Please include the role of the Holy Spirit in your thinking about prayer. I have seen many answers to my prayers and the prayers of others. Have you seen specific answers to prayer? I heard the testimony the other day of a Christian who was in the ER. This doctor was called to the ER and the man was dead. He had been dead over 30 minutes--no signs of life. he was headed to the morgue.

nighthawk7878 Says:

Aug 12, 2008 - The doctor left the room but the Lord told him to go back. He did not go, the Lord told him again to go back. He went back this time. Still the man had no signs of life. The doctor said a short but verbal prayer over the dead man. He then got the ER doctor and ask him to apply the shock pads one more time. THe ER doctor refused. The other doctor insisted that he shock him. the ER doctor did. a perfect heart rhythm appeared on the EKG machine. This vid is on the net if you want to see.

ameenebrahim Says:

Aug 12, 2008 - It is very obvious that Jesus (peace be upon him), nor ANY other creature can answer prayers. Jesus (peace be upon him) himself used to pray to God, and in the Quran he is mentioned as a righteous Prophet of God, who performed miracles only by the will of God. Can you say that Moses (peace be upon him) can answer prayers because he parted the sea? Or Adam (PBUH) because he was born without a mother or a father? Only Allah can answer prayers

ameenebrahim Says:

Aug 12, 2008 - Quran 3:49 "And will make him (Iesa (Jesus)) a Messenger to the Children of Israel (saying): "I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, that I design for you out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, and breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by ALLAHS LEAVE; and I heal him who was born blind, and the leper, and I bring the dead to life by ALLAHS LEAVE. And I inform you of what you eat, and what you store in your houses. Surely, therein is a sign for you, if you believe."

ameenebrahim Says:

Aug 12, 2008 - See, miracles are not a test at all to see whether a person answer prayers or not. Mathew 24:24 - ""For false christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to decieve even the elect-if that were possible" If false Christ and Prophets are able to perform miracles, then is it a test? No. According to the bible Jesus (PBUH) said that among those born of women, there has risen none greater than John the Baptist. Yet, he performed no miracles at all.

ameenebrahim Says:

Aug 12, 2008 - I have read the whole surah 4 arbic+translation, and it is so clearly mentioned that Jesus (PBUH) was not at all crucified nor was he killed, but Allah raised him up unto himself with his body and soul, saving him from the torture of the jews who were after him. The verses 4:156-158 are itself so clear that ANY reader can easily make out that Allah saved Jesus(PBUH) from the torture of crucifixion and raised him up alive. So does a narration suggest that, but since it is big, i will send a msg.

ameenebrahim Says:

Aug 12, 2008 - According to Islam none can accept your prayers except God alone, and if anyone says that there is someone else who can accept ones prayers too, then that is associating partners with God - a sin which Allah never forgives. You are comparing the life of Jesus(PBUH) with the bible and also the Quran, which is not correct. You could have compared it with the Injeel, but that is not present today, so I advise you to adhere to the teachings of the Quran and the hadiths.

ameenebrahim Says:

Aug 12, 2008 - Muslims pray 5 times a day, however, the remembrance of God is done at all times of the day, and a mulims tries to glorify, repent, and to remember God with his lips and heart 24/7. A model for you now is Muhammad (PBUH). Quran 33:21 - "Indeed in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad SAW) you have a good example to follow for him who hopes in (the Meeting with) Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah much."

nighthawk7878 Says:

Aug 13, 2008 - Allah or al-Ilah is "the God" in Arabic. The God is Yhwh or Yehweh of the Hebrews. Jesus is The Word , ie, the Mother of the Book, preexisting but coming in the flesh. Islamic scholars agree with that. The Word is eternal--coexisting with the Father and this does answer prayer because He is Allah=The God. I enjoy the dialog with you ammene. It has been wonderful. I hope you continue to seek God's face. I don't know how much more I can respond. I have many things to do.

nighthawk7878 Says:

Aug 13, 2008 - God bless and may He take care of you.
