Aug 6, 2008 - Video seems to be from 3 different locations...Grand Ave and Edna...and Arrow Highway. This is the Baldwin Park Local that goes OD at 5:30 pm at City of Industry and travels west to Bassett and then east to Orange Jct. via Metrolink. Job goes all the way to San Dimas and up past the 210 freeway. I have worked all three positions of this job over the years.

Aug 7, 2008 - The first two videos were taken from the same location and yes, third one is from Arrow Highway at 8:30PM. There was a derailment near that line and it seems they changed the schedule. Do you have any idea what time they usually go above the 210 freeway? I wanted to take photos/videos when the train passing through the freeway and go up to Azusa. Thanks.

Aug 8, 2008 - They only used to go up above the 210 2-3 times a week. There are 2 industries above the 210, and we usually did them last. This would put them up there between 11pm and 2am most of the time, although the actual amount of work may have increased or decreased. I saw the BP job coming back last week at about 11pm, meaning they had finished EARLY! That derailment resulted in changes on car handling, and a new runaround track has been installed south of Arrow Hwy.

Aug 14, 2008 - Thank you for info/reply. wow, that's late. No wonder I have never seen the train above the 210 which I always want to. Does the BP job receive hoppers from BNSF at Miller beer and then deliver to the customers above the 210? I saw two UP green goats(switcher) at the miller beer with 3 or 4 box cars and next day, all box cars were gone with BNSF.

Aug 18, 2008 - Yes, the BP uses Genset locos now...I had GP-38's when I worked it because the Azusa branch wouldn't take 6 axle locos. The UP delivers empty box cars to Miller for loading, and then picks up beer loads. The BNSF delivers the other products (grain, malt, hops, sugar, etc.) from the north side of the plant. I believe BNSF does at least some of the switching, but Miller has a mule.

Sep 3, 2008 - The Industry Yard is East of of the flyover...so the answer is no. The BP goes from the yard west past the 605 freeway then east on the San Gabriel Line...I also figure they may use the Basset Crossover as well then head east.
