Various performances ranging from Scottish dance to Chinese waist drums are exhibited. STORY: British Columbia is famous for its cultural diversity. Various ethnic performers display their distinctive talents at the Abbotsford Multicultural Festival. The nature of the event leads to the bonding of different art forms, and offers a platform for cultural sharing. One of the event organizers, Richard Lucy, welcomes the diversity that the festival brings. [Richard Lucy, Festival Organizer]: I think the best thing for me is just seeing so many people showing up and having a good time, and gaining knowledge about the diversity of our great city. Just seeing people having fun and learning. Its been great. The Celestial Marching Band of Canada from the Falun Dafa group, a spiritual meditation practice, shares their musical aptitude at the festival. [Cathy Tan, Drum Sectional Leader] Usually the marching band music is played by western people, and we are all Chinese people. So I think it is very unique, and what I like about the band too. The Falun Dafa group has also delighted the audience with Chinese waist drums and Chinese classical dances. Their colorful costumes display the vibrant Chinese culture and rich heritage. Lively Gidha dance, an indigenous Punjabi folk dance, brings cheers from the audience as the dancers express the beauty of their culture. [Jerry Palmer, Lawyer] The audience is amazed bythe multiculturalism showcased at the festival. Esther Hack, NTD, Vancouver
