Eduard Schütt (1856-1933), though Russian-born, latterly lived in Vienna, and his own music is cosmopolitan in style. As a transcriber, he is best known for arrangements of Strauss waltzes, but he also transcribed some Dvorak songs. This free transcription was published in 1921. Schütt adds am introduction and coda that demonstrate the refined chromaticism of his own works. A straight transcription of the first verse is followed 'out of the blue' by a highly decorative virtuoso arrangement of the second. --------------------------------------- Played by Phillip Sear http://www.psear.co.uk

Jul 19, 2008 - I'm sorry - I heard it again (and will be hearing it again and again), and there is something in this piece that glued me to the chair. Moreover, while hearing it - I kept 'seeing' in my mind almost like a special meaningful scene from an old movie.

Jul 19, 2008 - Thanks for your comments - it is a good piece, and a useful transcription of what is still quite a popular song.

Aug 25, 2008 - So beautiful!! I'm trying to learn this piece myself (but don't have the sheet music). If you could post a video of the keys as you play, I'd be forever grateful!
