Hello I am Michelle Foroughi of Weboptimiser Media, today is Friday, 27 of June 2008 and our news today starts with SEM boosting spending on internet advertising; Retailers 'wising up' to online marketing and Organic SEO driving US iPhone searches... Almost seven million search requests were made for the Apple iPhone in the US during April, with organic search engine optimisation (SEO) helping to account for the majority of these queries, new figures have revealed. The statistics, collected by comScore, showed that 1.3 million web users carried out 6.9 million queries for terms related to the iPhone during the month. Online retailers are increasingly deploying effective internet advertising techniques - including search engine optimisation (SEO) - to grab more business, David Smith, operations director at e-retail industry body IMRG, some of the web's biggest retailers are helping to drive growth in the UK online shopping market by making use of successful advertising campaigns - online contributed £1bn of sales to retailers in December 2007 according to IMRG last year. We know all about it too... A study by IDC indicated that global spending on online ads will grow to $65.2 billion (£32.9 billion) this year, equivalent to nearly ten per cent of all spending on advertising across all channels. It said that this will rise to $106.6 billion by 2011, with one-third of spending to go on SEM keyword ads. So this helps prove our pitch, that it will be cheaper and less competitive for companies to get involved now, especially if you are in the adult content and gambling, information, electronics and computing areas - projected to drive $5bn dollars of growth. That was the news roundup today, Friday, 27 of June 2008, I am Michelle Foroughi, thanks for watching.
