VELMOUS Says:
Sep 15, 2008 - JOHN DENVER WAS VERY DRUNK at that performance. He died 11-days later flying a homemade airplane in to the ocean..DRUNK!!!!!
rrrmm5 Says:
Sep 16, 2008 - I think you'll find your assumptions are very incorrect. The toxicology tests on his body revealed no drugs or alcohol present in his system. The official crash report is posted on the net. You might want to check your facts before posting next time. We Denver fans were devastated when he died and don't need to read rubbish like this!
puck57 Says:
Sep 16, 2008 - Gee Velmous- just one problem with your post- NONE of it's TRUE!!! Other than that....
yankeeadventurer Says:
Sep 16, 2008 - WELL NOW. THOROUGH toxicology tests PROVED he had NOTHING in his system when he died but food. SOME people on YOUTUBE, just like his EX, the Aussie trainwreck, MAKE UP what they want to slam someone when they can't accept the truth. SHE is A KNOWN LIAR, even the AUSSIES can't stand her for her lies and treatment of him and Jesse. ANOTHER LYING GOLDDIGGER!!!!
yankeeadventurer Says:
Sep 16, 2008 - There will ALWAYS be people who make up lies about others, and most often the lies are told when the person has no way of defending themselves. You just have to rememeber that's the way SOME people are, make up what they want..like the trainwreck he married, and OTHERS who enjoy bashing others.MOST of it is JEALOUSLY!!!!
Earthlinked Says:
Sep 16, 2008 - You are making that up - and you know it! John Denver, at the time of his death, had not had a drink in over 4 years. All toxicology reports of his death found no trace of alcohol or drugs in his system. And as far as a "homemade" airplane - ALL aircraft that are not manufactured on an assembly line like Boeing - are considered "experimental". The builder of Denver's Long EZ had built 7 Long EZs before making the one that he would eventually buy. Now go crawl back into your hole - snake!!
Earthlinked Says:
Sep 16, 2008 - John Denver still is my inspiration! Would that we all could have a life so rich, so meaningful to others and to have made so many happy - on a global scale!! Would that we could follow in his footsteps!!
beetles1970 Says:
Sep 17, 2008 - Hey Velmous it shows how smart you really are!! He HAD a drinking problem, but he was sober for some time. That was NOT the cause of the accident. There were no drugs or alcohol in his system at the time of the crash, so just go back under your rock!!!

Sep 24, 2008 - What a precious clip of our beloved JD. Thank you for sharing this video.

Oct 15, 2008 - The plane ran out of gas in the main tank. The back up tank was right behind the seat where he had to turn the seat around to reach it. That caused the plane to roll and he lost controll of the plane. The builders of the plane should have been sued.
hc625ma Says:
Oct 17, 2008 - what plane had he flied that day? usually u have fuel feed selector at the floor at your right, and even if he couldnt switch to an external tank he could turn on the autopilot while vacuum pump had still been working..
puck57 Says:
Oct 17, 2008 - The previous owner who had the plane before JD had the gas switch behind the pilot's left shoulder. It was an "experimental" plane meaning it was not an assembly line plane like a Boeing plane or commerical plane. When JD went to reach for the switch over his left shoulder to change to the 2nd gas tank since the 1st tank was empty his right foot accidentally hit the rudder putting the plane in a nose dive and it was too close to the ground to avert the crash.
puck57 Says:
Oct 17, 2008 - For some unexplicable reason JD did not fill the first tank or have an attendant fill the tank before takeoff- he probably thought he was just going to do some quick take offs and landings and "buzz" Clint Eastwood's home so no need to worry about the gas. The switch was due to be changed in TWO weeks. Twice before two pilots in this same type plane did the same thing as JD but were higher up so they averted crashing. JD DIDN'T think that Sunday afternoon and it cost him his life.

Oct 18, 2008 - have anyone got a idea how many guitars he had ..it seems like every video i have seen he is playing a different guitar ,. and he could play
puck57 Says:
Oct 19, 2008 - Well, he had a contract/agreement with Guild guitar for many years to use their guitars- pretty good advertising wouldn't you say? He was dropped by Guild about the time RCA dropped him in the early 80's and used Taylor among others. HE probably couldn't tell you how many he had over the years. His grandma's guitar- the one he learned on was cremated with him. I'm sure Annie and the kids each have many of his guitars as well as the band brothers.

Oct 21, 2008 - Had the pleasure of meeting John Denver when he was in a lodge one evening at Vail pass as we stopped for a bite to eat on our way for a deer hunting trip not far from there. His music will always live on. Ron

Oct 28, 2008 - ....how special that his last performance was for a intimate croud of 300...and a special birthday party for someone like Margo who appreciated and loved his music... John Denver...your songs continue to live and bless us with your love...thank you ever so kindly, Mr Denver... My you rest in sweet peace...singing above and beyond the clouds... x
blackwhimsy Says:
Oct 29, 2008 - Guild dropped him as well?? I had no idea. Jeez,no wonder John suffered depression. In the space of a few years your dad dies, your wife, manager, record company and guitar supplier all tell you they don't want you any more. And people wonder why John would say,"No one will miss me when I'm gone.I'm nobody." That sucks. So many of us never stopped loving you John. I wish you knew.
laosandburma Says:
Nov 5, 2008 - "Let me be...." What??? Can't hear what he says. I know he says about the next 10 days etc which IS ironic but what is the punch-line?
puck57 Says:
Nov 6, 2008 - I know- it's hard to catch. From an earlier post when we were wondering as well: "Sometime in the next week or 10 days some of you, not just a few will look across the room at your lover or watch them coming in the door and say "let me be the end of your rainbow, let me be the stars up above" ".

Nov 6, 2008 - My wife and I were going to the Gulf to entertain troups in the 1st Gulf War when we bumped into John in Heathrow. He saw our guitars and said, "Where you going?" We chatted for half-an-hour . He showed real interest in us. So modest and unassuming. I told him we sang some of his songs, and he took it as a compliment. As we left I said, "I don't suppose you sing any of mine?" He laughed and said, "Send me some." I never did. He was a very warm-hearted, modest man and his talent is sorely missed.
laosandburma Says:
Nov 6, 2008 - Thanks puck for your help on working out what he said!
