Chapter 30 "Promise" [Alyssa froze. Alyssa felt like her world fell apart. She wanted to run and scream but she can't. Her feet won't move an inch. She felt like it was glued to the ground. ] Riley: (speechless) .......I-i don't know what to say. Nick: it's okay if you say no. Riley: No! Nick: I knew it. Riley: no! Nick: huh? Riley: what I meant was I'd loved to be your girlfriend. Nick: are you sure? Riley: how could I reject a guy like you! Alyssa's so dumb to dump you. Don't worry I'll never make that same mistake as her. Nick: Riley,.....I don't want to talk about her anymore. Riley: ok. [Meanwhile, Alyssa quietly ran away and head towards Sarah's house. She couldn't bear to listen to their conversation anymore. It's tearing her heart apart.] At Sarah's house [Sarah heard a loud banging sound from her door. Sarah quickly went downstairs to see who was making these noises. She opened it and saw Alyssa crying.] Sarah: Alyssa? What's wrong? Are you okay? [Alyssa suddenly went inside, ignoring Sarah, and ran upstairs to Sarah's bedroom.] Sarah: Alyssa! Wait! [she immediately followed her upstairs and saw her weeping on her bed.] Sarah: Alyssa, what happen? Tell me! Alyssa: (snifflles) nick... Sarah: what about nick? Alyssa: h-h-he..... Sarah: what?? Did he do something?? Alyssa: he asked Riley to be her girlfriend. He asked her to replace me! Sarah: what?! Alyssa: how could he do this to me! How could he move on so fast and yet, ....I haven't. Sarah: you can't blame him. You broke up with him. If you don't want to lose him, then why did you dump him? Alyssa: I know but If you were in my place, you'll do the same thing too. Sarah: is it that complicated? [Alyssa nodded.] Alyssa: I kept on telling my mind to stop loving him but(sniffles)...it's my heart that won't listen. And now,....it's very painful for me to see him love someone else. Sarah: you know, your not the only one in pain. It hurts me to see you like this. Alyssa: (sniffles).....that's it! I'm tired of crying over him.(wiped all her tears) this is the last time I'm gonna cry over a boy. I promise that i'll never fall in love again. Sarah: (shocked) do you know what you're saying? Alyssa: yes. Sarah: I bet you can't do it. Alyssa: I'll try. Sarah: are you over him? Alyssa: ....yes. Sarah: are you sure? Alyssa: yes. Sarah: I'm sure Nick and Riley will be together in the hospital. Do you still want to come? Alyssa: yes. Even though it's gonna be painful, I'm gonna smile. I'm not gonna show them any sign of pain or weaknesses. Sarah: can you endure all of that? Alyssa: I'll try. Sarah: Just remember that I'm always here for you. Alyssa: (smiled) I already knew that.
