He'Khalil (or: He'Chalil, He'Halil - The Flute): An Hebrew art song. text: Lea Goldberg (1911-1970)/ melody: David Zehavi (1910-1975). sings: Rosa (Vered) Wol soprano, piano: Riva Wolkowicz. The Flute's text was found by the composer in a children weekly magazine in 1938. It meant the little wooden shepherd-recorder, and not the orhestral one. Translation: A) The flute is simple and gentle and its' voice is like the voice of the heart - the flute. Like the paddling of the streams, like a children's song, like the rusle of the winds in a blooming orchard - the flute, the flute. B) The flute's melody to the tree, to the cloud, the flute's melody to the herd-flocks' deposit, the flute's melody to my little brother, the flute's melody to the mountains, the mountains - the flute! C) He who listens to it knows very well that it will waken the sielence, will fill it with sound, like the rustle of the winds in a blooming orchard - the flute, the flute.
