The Vox Pathfinder sounds great, but you would need a distortion pedal to get metal tones out of it, which I don't think is what you're going for. I'll be honest, I've never been a fan of line 6, and have been a Marshall fan for a long time. However, if I had to choose between the MG15 and Spider, I would go with the Line 6.

Go with the peavey vypyr it's the leading practice amp for $99 there is a demo of it against the line 6, and it just blows it out of the water. Oh and it has 24 different amp modes in one practice amp! good luck with your choice, but definitely check out a vypyr.

Oct 2, 2008 - Dude, Get the 15 watt Peavey Vypyr. I'm planning on getting one myself really soon. I've heard nothing but great things about them. People say its the closest you can get to a tube sound from a solid state amp. Plus, it has way more amp models than the Line 6 and effects. The Line 6 sounds a bit too digitial in my opinion. And forget about the Marshall MG, those are garbage period.

Oct 5, 2008 - hey i just got a vypyr 15. im really happy with it. good metal tones. now don't get me wrong only you can decide wich metal tone is best for you. but the thing i have noticed about my amp is that it has good metal tones and it has "hospital" clean tone, and is very dynamic and "tubey" like in feel,tone and response . The vypyr is nice and loud 2. I got it home and pluged in started thrashing seek and destroy and my gf was like man thats loud [I had the volume on 1 ;)]. Check it out before u buy.
