Oct 23, 2008 - you do know that plexis didnt have any sort of gain control right? all the "gain" is tube overdrive, which is wholly different than gain. oh, and you can bet that page went and checked all of his levels before the start of the show.

Oct 24, 2008 - Didn't realize it was a Plexi, thought it was a JCM 800 or something similar. Anyway, listen to the tone...it's choking out and he has zero sustain. Something went bad somewhere. It was an equipment problem and they hardly had time to correct the error either, so Page doesn't deserve the blame for that. Go and listen to the multitude of live Zeppelin shows out there...none of the ones I've heard ever had this problem no matter how off Page was that night.

I agree it was an equipment issue, but I doubt it was amp levels, maybe someone ran over a cord or the signal chain wasnt set up right which is stuff that he may not have had time to bother with. as for sustain, its a 58 or 59 lp, its got a massive neck and body and even clean it has rediculous resonance and it also does cut out so I yeah, I would guess issue with the signal chain.
