When the 9/11 attacks occurred GW Bush met with his cabinet and immediately discussed invading Iraq. Colin Powell suggested that the world community would not understand such a thing since Iraq had nothing whatsoever to do with 9/11. So, they decided to invade Afghanistan first. Their plan was called "Afghanistan First," which obviously implies someplace was "second." We are definitely NOT "safer" because of the Iraq occupation since it gives more people the impetus to carry out more 9/11 style attacks on U.S. soil. Expect it. .
