Florida knows that her nephew, Cleatus, did not rob a bank in Atlanta. She and James allow him to stay overnight at their place. But as Michael grabs his bag to assist him to the room, it pops open and the $25,000 taken from the bank falls out! James and Florida tells him to leave. He begins to leave but then pulls out a gun and grabs Michael as "insurance!"

Aug 24, 2008 - They wanted to kill off James right from the very beginning, but Ester rolle refused to be in a show that depicted a black family without a father. When John Amos complained about the foolishness of J.J.'s character he ended up quitting and was finally killed off the show. As a result Ester Rolle quit too.

She said that they thought that all they had to do was stand on the corner, clap their hands, and shout DYN-O-MITE, and they'd be rich. During the 1977-78 season, JJ showed maturity, especially when he punished Michael for being unruly. Later, he expressed regret at not being a better example to his baby brother. That was from Junior the Senior, where he almost failed the 11th grade.
